Guest Lecture on Heavy Metal Removal from Wastewater by Adsorption Method

A Guest Lecture on “Heavy Metal Removal from Wastewater by Adsorption Method” was organized by the Department of Chemical Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology on 18th September, 2021. The aim of guest lecture was to make students aware about current trends in wastewater treatment technologies. The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Shravan Kumar, Assistant Professor, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Kumar presented a comprehensive and informative presentation wherein he discussed fundamentals of wastewater treatment and adsorption followed by results of their research to remove Cr ion from wastewater using bio-adsorption. Further, characterization of the adsorbent (Composition, BET Surface Area, TGA Analysis etc.), modeling of the process and effect of process parameters (pH, Particle Size, Agitation etc.) were discussed. In his talk, Dr. Kumar also guided and motivated students about further research and opportunities in this field. The guest lecture was very interactive and fruitful and all the queries raised by the students were answered by the speaker satisfactorily.
