Yes, Students need to have programming skills such as: R, PERL, Python and JAVA, if they are working in IT sector and Software Development.

Even if students are just inclined to the biological aspect of it, still students would need some amount of programming like C, C++, DBMS. XML and PERL to deal with the biological data.

A person who practices Biochemistry and has studied Biochemistry course is generally called as Biochemist. Biological processes are complex processes that have many aberrations as presented in many disorders and diseases. Mechanistic molecular details of these complexities are necessary to infer relevant information in order to derive molecules, methods, tools or approaches to overcome or manage these disorders. A Biochemist therefore studies molecular, metabolic and physiological details of the concerned biological phenomena to connect molecular basis to systemic physiological effects. They spend a lot of time inside a biochemistry laboratory with designing and executing molecular or metabolic experiments more often dealing with clinical samples, various reagents and numerous spectroscopy, potentiometry, electrophoresis, chromatography and centrifugation instruments. It is their job to design, execute and infer useful information from these experiments.

Biochemists excel themselves in disciplines of biomolecular structure and function, metabolism, enzymology, clinical biochemistry, pharmaceutical biochemistry, endocrinology, plant biochemistry, molecular physiology etc.

A master’s degree (M.Sc. Mathematics) is a postgraduate degree for students who want to become more skilled or specialized in a particular discipline tend to be more focused and allow students to develop the depth of their knowledge in a particular subject. Mathematics is the study of quantity, structure, space, and change. Mathematicians seek out patterns and formulate new conjectures which resolve the truth or falsity of conjectures by mathematical proofs. Mathematics is very important in the field of data science as concepts within mathematics aid in identifying patterns and assist in creating algorithms. The understanding of various notions of Statistics and Probability Theory are key for the implementation of such algorithms in data science.

The curriculum of M.Sc. Mathematics includes dissertation projects, assignments, analyzing a large amount of numerical data, MAT Lab, NST Lab ,seminars and complete course of CSIR NET Exam. MAT LAB may not be as user friendly as an application like Photoshop, however, being a general purpose programming language it provides many important advantages for forensic image processing. It ensures the image processing steps used are completely documented, and hence can be replicated. It also includes designing surveys and experiments. The evaluation of a student is done through an Internal Assessment and External Assessment. This Department organized time to time workshops with help of department of computer science. The dissertation project is an important part of M.Sc. Mathematics.
