The Introduction to Water Treatment Course is intended to provide students with the knowledge required for initial licensure and entry into the water treatment field. An industrial visit for B.Tech Mechanical students was organized to Kalyana Water Treatment Plant, Jodhpur for the purpose. Prof. Rajneesh Katarne explained about water quality characteristics of water sources including: Groundwater sources, Aquifers, Surface Water sources, Reservoir characteristics, Watersheds, Wells, Raw Water and Clear Well Storage. The purpose and operational steps of key water treatment processes used to improve water quality including: Coagulation, Flocculation, Sedimentation, Filtration, Disinfection, Corrosion Control, Taste and Odor Control, Iron and Manganese removal and Fluoridation etc, for specific water quality challenges.
