The One Day Workshop on Human Values & Professional Ethics was organized by School of Business & Management for all students on 13.10.23at 2:30 pm on wards in SIILAS. There were 75 participants. Opening remarks for the Workshop were given by Mr. Girdhar Agarwal. The Resource person for the session was Dr. Poorva Pandey Sharma, Assistant Professor, School of Business & management.

She talked about the various aspects related to human values and also gave various examples related to professional ethics. Human values are innate principles that govern our behavior. They include honesty, respect, responsibility, and compassion, among others.

These values are essential for the development of individual character and societal harmony. They foster understanding, tolerance, and mutual respect, which are crucial for peaceful coexistence. Ethics, on the other hand, are moral principles that govern a person’s behavior or the conducting of an activity. They guide us in distinguishing between right and wrong. Ethics are not innate but are learned and can vary depending on cultural, societal, or professional contexts. The interplay between human values and ethics is significant. Values form the basis of our ethical behavior.

They influence our perception of what is morally right or wrong. Ethics, in turn, provide a framework through which these values are expressed and applied. Human values are the great virtues that help people to guide their character as they interact and socialize with the fellow human beings. In other words, it is how we expect other people to treat us and what we can give back in return. They are five human values which include truth, love, right conduct, peace, and non-violence.

She further added that Ethics are the set of moral principles that are accepted by all the human beings. These morals define the kind of person we are.

During the session, she requested many of the students to answer the question & wherein the students answered the questions asked by the resource person.

The session was liked by the audience.
