Overview of the Event: Outreach program Injury prevention and Treatment strategy among the Jaipur football club players was held 13th August to 15th August 2023 in Jaipur football club Mansarovar The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Physiotherapy, Jaipur National University. The camp was open to MPT students of the department of Physiotherapy, and a total of 10 students participated in the event.

Objectives of the Physiotherapy Camp:
  • Provide physiotherapy students with a range of valuable experiences and learning opportunities in different sports activities.
  • From exposure to a variety of injuries to hands-on experience with rehabilitation techniques, students can gain practical skills that will prepare them for their future careers.

The coordinator for the sessions was Dr. Deepak Sharma (PT)

Camp included: -
  • Examination of Athletes
  • Advising & performing on field Physiotherapy Treatment
  • Almost 117 athletes were taken benefits by the physiotherapist during game session on field treatment and injury prevention management given.

Highlights of the Camp:

  • This continued for 3 days where both the students and players got benefitted & 10 Physiotherapy students rendered their services.
  • The honourable dignitaries and senior faculties of our college came to see the services being rendered at different sections the camp.

Special Attractions:

The students of College of Physiotherapy, Jaipur National University had a prepared FMS – Functional Movement Score sheet , Postural Assessment through Physiocode app and Sports based Warm-up & Cool down. Fms generally takes 15 minutes for every athlete and postural assessment takes around 3 minutes. Whereas every athlete was preached about warm-ups and cool down.

Work Delegation:

Conducting a Physiotherapy Camp at a place where there is no introduction of rehabilitation services at the primary level by the National Health Policies. So the volunteers & seniors with them assisted along the whole camp. Each team had one volunteer who was taking FMS , One who was taking Postural Assessment , One with photography and One senior for home based exercise and sports ergonomics advice.

Outcomes of the Camp:

  • Knowledge of running biomechanics and understanding how to prevent and manage common running injuries such as shin splints, plantar fasciitis, and Achilles tendonitis.
  • Ability to conduct pre-participation screening and fitness assessments for runners, including testing for cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and strength.
  • Understanding the role of nutrition in enhancing performance and recovery in runners.
  • Sports persons feeling the need of Physiotherapy on regular weekly basis has also proposed establishment of a Physiotherapy services at the arena. This has been the most significant outcome of the camp.
  • This influx of sports athletes will enhance to the JNU Hospital for not only Physiotherapy services but also for all the disciplines.

Recommendations: During the event, the following recommendations were made:

  • Increase awareness: It was recommended that more awareness campaigns should be conducted to educate the general public about sports injuries and its prevention.
  • Collaboration between healthcare professionals: It was recommended that healthcare professionals from different fields should collaborate more to provide holistic care to patients.
  • Continuing education: It was recommended that healthcare professionals should participate in continuing education events to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and practices.
  • Patient education: It was recommended that patients should be educated about the benefits and risks of osteopathy and chiropractic techniques.

Action taken: Following the recommendations made during the camp, the following actions have been taken:

  • Increase awareness: We have initiated a social media campaign to increase awareness about Physiotherapy and its recent advancement in sports. We have also started a series of public seminars to educate the general public about these techniques.
  • Collaboration between healthcare professionals and athletes: We have organized several sports outreach programs to facilitate collaboration between healthcare professionals and athletes. These sports outreach programs have been well-received and have resulted in more coordinated care and injury prevention in athletes.
  • Continuing education: These programs are educating for the students and beneficial to the athletes as it helps in enhancing their performance in sports and students gets benefits of on field practical knowledge. These programs have been well-attended and have helped healthcare professionals and athletes stay up-to-date with the latest practices.
  • Patient education: We have developed patient education materials, including brochures and videos, to educate patients about various types of sports injuries and techniques to deal with it. These materials have been distributed.

Conclusion: We believe that the actions taken following the Outreach program Injury prevention and Treatment strategy among the Jaipur football club players have been effective. We will continue to monitor the situation and make further improvements where necessary to ensure that patients receive the best possible care
