International Women’s Day

A grand celebration was organised to mark the International Women’s Day on Monday, 08 March 2021, at Jaipur National University organized by the Department of English (School of Languages, Literature, and Society). The theme of the women’s day was Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world- in order to celebrate the greatness, kindness, and contribution of all women. The Department of English celebrated women's success and her pivotal role in cultural, political, social, and economic development. The central aim of the Department was to promote skills and talents of our girls.

The inaugural took place in the benign presence of Executive Director- Dr. Preeti Bakshi, and Dr. Divya Shrivastava, Director in School of Life and Basic Sciences. The event was conducted under the guidance of the Convener Dr. Rana Zaidi, HOD Department of English who welcomed the participants and introduced the program to all.

The day began with a collidoscope of skill competition and talent contest to promote the different skills to empower girls. The different competitions were held are as follow:

  • The inauguration of the event started with the welcome of Dignitaries in the Central Lawn at JNU-Main Campus. This auspicious day was addressed by Executive Director Dr. Preeti Bakshi. After this, Dance Challenge (Flash Mob) had begun, and more than 200 hundred students had participated in this public performance.
  • The Ground floor of Engineering block was decorated with colour and floral Rangoli. Rangoli was also included in one of the skill competitions events. The number of participants were 22 from over different schools.
  • Rangoli, Make-up and Mehendi competition were running parallel at the same time (10:45 am – 12:45 pm). The judges for the various events were invited for the impartial judgement.
  • After Lunch, Talent round was followed that comprises of three events namely: Singing, Dance and Fancy-Dress. These events were organised in the auditorium of Engineering block (main-campus) from 1:00 pm – 03:30 pm. The judges for the above-mention competition were invited from different schools. There were around forty-eight participation.
