Research Oriented Practical Training

Jan 04, 2019

One of the benchmark of the School is, one month summer training aimed at Research Oriented Practical Training of B.Sc.(Hons.) students of Biotechnology / Microbiology / Bioinformatics / Clinical- Microbiology / Biochemistry (IV Semester) in the areas of Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology. The training was organized by eminent faculty members. The training had following modules in different areas of science: Bioinformatics- In-Silico Drug Designing (AUTO DOCK, IGEMDOCK, HEX Docking), Sequence Alignment Using BLAST, ClustalW, PERL Programming using Active PERL. Molecular Biology- Nucleic acid isolation and purification from cells and their quantification, Restriction digestion of genomic DNA/gene, Vertical gel electrophoresis (PAGE), Phylogenetic analysis. Microbiology - Study of microbial interaction with food by identifying biomolecules profile (Bioactive peptides &/ nucleic acid), Identification and analysis of functional properties of probiotic bacteria, Safety analysis of microbes used in functional food. Clinical Microbiology- Isolation of pathogenic bacteria causing UTI and their characterization by differential staining and biochemical tests. Detection of drug resistance pattern in isolated strains, Diagnosis of viral infections by standard ELISA, Detection of Mycobacteria by Z-N staining.
