English Department organizes the Great JNU Debate

Main campus, April 12, 2021 | The merits and demerits of the New Education Policy 2020 came under intense scrutiny during the Great JNU Debate held online by the English Department of the Jaipur National University on April 9.

Around four dozen students from various departments shared their views on the topic ‘New Education Policy 2020 is a new dawn of Indian Education System’.

Speaking for the motion, speakers maintained that flexibility in selection of interdisciplinary subjects and multiple entry-exit facilities were big advantages of the new policy. However, those against the motion criticised the policy for its focus on regional language as medium of teaching in primary classes.

The head of the English Department Dr. Rana Zaidi announced the winners and encouraged them to do even better in future.

Kamayani Chaturvedi from the School of Allied Health Sciences stood first, while Rashi Chaturvedi from the English Department came second. The third position was shared by Huma Parveen and Anjali Chauhan of BA English (honours) 2nd semester.

All the participants were given e-certificates.

The programme was moderated by faculty incharge Pushpraj Singh, and anchored by Suman Gagrai and Adamya Bhardwaj, both students of BA (H) 6th semester.
