Report on NASI workshop

School of Social Sciences organized a workshop on Health and Nutrition for Tribal Women at Bassi, Jaipur under National Academy of Sciences India (NASI) assisted project. The Hon’ble VC of the Jaipur National University Prof. H.N. Verma graced the occasion with his presence. A woman Sarpanch (elected Panchayati Raj representative) Vimala Devi chaired the inaugural session of the workshop. Addressing the participants Prof. Verma highlighted importance of health and nutrition for women in general and specifically for tribal women. Project Investigator Deepak Kumar Yogi, Assistant Professor from School of Social Sciences briefed the participants about the NASI assisted project and its activities. As a resource person Dr. Ram Manoher Gupta lectured about issues related to the health for rural women. Other resource person Babulal Meena took a session on nutrition for women. Officials from Department of Women and Child Development, Department of Tribal Area Development, Nehru Yuva Kendra and local NGO attended the workshop. More than 60 tribal women attended the workshop as participant from the project area.
