Panel Discussion on Challenges & Prospects of Gender Equality in India

On the occasion of ‘International Women’s Day’, a Panel Discussion was organized on ‘Challenges and Prospects of Gender Equality in India’ that aimed to make teacher educators and prospective teachers aware of the challenges to gender equality and prospects to gender equality in different arena of life. The panelists from various fields, Dr. Meeta Singh , Prof. Asha Kaushik, Prof. Pawan Suranaand Ms. Nisha stated that gender roles and inequality is socially constructed and it’s time to deconstruct it. A course of action to achieve gender equality is through socialization process, attitudinal change, political commitment, poverty alleviation, economic independence, safe environment and gender sensitization programme. They called upon future teachers to believe that they have to change their mindset.
