A guest lecture was organized on “Affordable De-fluoridation Technologies using Nano-biotechnology” by Dr. Suphiya Khan, Associate Professor, Banasthali University. Dr. Khan introduced the basic problems encountered by the presence of fluoride ions in drinking water. She also discussed about various fluoride removal techniques and their major limitations. In continuation with this, she conversed about the nano-bio-sorbent for fluoride removal which is a simple, inexpensive and highly efficient technology. This new method uses pouches covered with nano particles synthesized from organically-grown jojoba seeds to remove fluoride from water.
