Faculty-  Neha Rawal

As we move deeper into the digital age, the connection between management and artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more and more significant. This isn't simply a digital fad for management students at Indian schools; it's a big development that will have an impact on their careers, businesses, and the economy as a whole. We need more than just managers for the digital future. We also need leaders that know how to use AI, think critically, act ethically, and make decisions based on facts.

AI is altering every area of India very swiftly, including banking, education, retail, and healthcare. To help with this, the government is pushing programs like Digital India, Skill India, and Startup India. If you're a college student studying management, the message is clear: don't be afraid of AI; consider it as a strong partner on your way to becoming a smart, creative, and future-ready professional.

AI in Management: How AI is Changing the Job of the Manager

Normally, when we think of managers they are the one who make choices, set up plans, and keep things moving smoothly. But in today's tech-savvy and data-rich business world, AI is transforming these jobs:  Decision making has become easier than ever now because of predictive analysis and planning involves creating scenarios and doing simulations.

Smart solutions, including AI-powered CRMs and HRMS platforms, handle coordination on their own.

For example, marketing students can now use AI tools like Google Analytics or HubSpot to understand how people act right now. Students in HR study about hiring sites that use AI, such as HireVue and Param.ai. They learn how AI can help them narrow down candidates, analyze facial expressions during interviews, and anticipate how well someone will fit in with the company's culture.

The manager of the future should work with AI, not against it, in short.

Why AI is Important for Management Students

Every management student in India should learn about AI for the following reasons:

1. "Tech Proficiency: A Key to Future-Ready Managerial Careers"

According to a NASSCOM survey, more than 70% of future managerial professions will require some level of expertise of AI and data analytics. People that know how to use technologies like Python, Excel with Power Query, Tableau, or even ChatGPT could stand out in interviews.

2. "Choosing Wisely: How AI Empowers Smarter Managerial Decisions Across Functions"
Choosing Wisely AI helps managers make better decisions by looking at a lot of data and providing them insights. AI can help you make smarter choices in any area of your business, from finance to operations to marketing to HR.

How AI is used in different areas of management

Artificial intelligence is having a huge impact on several areas of management studies, making businesses run smarter and more efficiently. In marketing, AI may help with customer segmentation, targeted ads, and sending out personalized information. Swiggy and Amazon India are two companies that use it to offer items based on how people act. AI helps banks discover fraud, handle risk, and execute algorithmic trading. Fintech companies like CRED and Paytm use it to give people credit options that are right for them. AI employs predictive analytics in human resources to find talent and keep employees by improving hiring, onboarding, and employee engagement. The way operations and supply chains are run is changing. For instance, BigBasket and Flipkart employ AI to guess how much stock they will have, speed up deliveries, and run their warehouses. Management students need to completely understand these tools in order to learn how to use data and technology to make decisions in today's business world. Bridging the Gap: AI in the Management Course

Some Indian schools have included AI and analytics electives, but there is still a large gap between what schools teach and what businesses need. Management education needs to change swiftly to stay valuable. Jaipur National University is a good example of how to use AI in management studies by offering specialized courses, market-relevant projects, and working with digital platforms. This innovative approach teaches students both management skills and technical skills, which will help them do well in a business world that is getting more and more digital.

AI and Ethics: An Important Lesson for Students in Management

You have a lot of power, thus you have a lot of duty. Students who want to be managers in the future should also be aware of the ethical issues that come up with AI:
Bias in Algorithms: AI systems can reinforce gender or social biases.
1. Data Privacy: Managers need to make sure that user data is safe, especially in HR or finance.
2. Job loss: Automation might lead to job loss, thus managers must handle change in a fair and humane way.

Not only should business schools teach students how to use AI, they need also teach them how to use it safely. Every curriculum should include learning about things like AI ethics, algorithmic accountability, and privacy rules like India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

There are a lot of new businesses opening in India right now, and a lot of them are adopting AI to run their businesses. It's so exciting! For student entrepreneurs, learning how to leverage AI can be quite important. They can help businesses come up with business models that not only work well and are cheap, but also meet the needs of their customers.

For instance, Zerodha, Ola, and Cure.fit. They already use AI to make things easier for people, run their businesses better, and come up with innovative ideas in their professions. It's interesting to see how technology is influencing how businesses work here!
