WHERE THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE

Media is among the most influential forces in society today. By building media literacy and competencies students not only gain greater understanding of the world, but also develop important intellectual and transferable skills . The School of Media Studies was set up in 2004 with the objective of producing confident and motivated professionals who will be able to manage complex problems in society.  Through sound, images, and video, students in our department explore new ways to analyse the stories of humankind.

Classroom teaching is well supported by proper lab set-up with studio facility for industrial professional market. Students can build academic networks through seminars, conferences, university- industry interface, study-tours, student-exchange programmes, and internships  that bring endless opportunities to create great career paths. Media programmes are designed to recognize and heighten awareness of the core values our institution has already practised and articulated. Our faculty bring a combination of industry expertise and academic accomplishment to the classroom.

Media programmes are all about establishing the essential relationship between media theory and media practical, respect for aesthetic, critical, and pragmatic dimensions of communication; appreciation of the ways in which media theory and media practice can contribute to intercultural global understanding.

All of our faculty retain strong ties to other departments on campus and these ties give our students a wide variety of unique opportunities to explore the ways in which new modes of communication are changing the world. We challenge students to examine the prisms through which they see and record daily life. We hone habits of introspection, not only for recognizing personal biases but also for helping students stay grounded in professional ethics throughout their careers. There has never been a more interesting time to study media and never a greater need for people who understand the complexities of the industry.
