The School of Social Sciences offers employment-based programmes at Master’s and Doctorate levels in Sociology and Social Work.

The course contents are so designed as to groom the aspirants as Adult Guidance-Workers, Career-Advisors and Community Development Counsellors. With time, various social institutions and the individuals in society have realized the importance of contributing to  social development and so the role of social science graduates has become important. A career in social work is all about giving and helping others in need. From various NGOs across the nation to social development, a degree in social work will provide a candidate an in-depth knowledge about the work put into the development of humanity and social welfare. A career in social work offers job security, since there will always be communities that need resources and advocates.

Understanding this growing need, the School of Social Sciences is striving to fulfill the requirement of personnel in different social sectors. In addition to the classroom teaching, field study engagements, presentations of the study and group discussions are an integral part of the learning process. The school also participates in university-wide research initiatives such as public health, global food security and energy and conservation.
