Write-up on Interactive session with Prof. Ashish Chandra, Prof. William Stroube and Dr. David held on 16th January, 2020 at School of Business & Management (Main campus)

An interactive session with Prof. Ashish Chandra (University of Houston- Clear Lake, Texas, USA), Prof. William Stroube (University of Evansville, Indiana, USA) and Dr. David Wyant (Jack C. Massey College of Business, USA) was held on 16th January, 2020 at School of Business and Management (JNU Main campus), Jaipur National University, Jaipur.

During the session, Prof. Ashish Chandra pointed the importance of being innovative and creative in today’s competitive scenario. He said, “Earlier, companies were offering jobs on the basis of degrees but now companies hunt for individuals who are not only competent to perform the job but have the capacity of bringing about radical changes in the organization through their innovative ideas.” He highlighted that in present times companies design employee retention strategies as they have realized the economic benefits of retaining the competent employees.

Prof. William stated, “Managing emotional intelligence at workplace should be taken seriously to ensure better collaboration among employees and create a happy environment at workplace.” He added that by taking care of human emotions at workplace, employer could establish strong relationship with their employees. He highlighted that stress management strategies help employees in self-management, taking criticism positively and becoming more productive and efficient.

Dr.David spotted the problems faced by modern organizations related to handling of ‘Big data’. He said, “The increasing variety, volume and velocity of data are posing challenges in effective data management”. He stated that in present times, companies establish technology enabled platform to become more capable in performing real time analysis of Big data that enables it to underline insights, establish correlation, predict abnormal patterns and mitigate frauds. He explained the features of latest tools of Big data analytics like, data extraction, data preparation and data analysis

The management students expressed that the session was very beneficial. It helped them in learning the intricacies of talent management, recruitment, stress management at workplace and Big data analytics. Prof. Rajesh Mehrotra (Director, School of Business and Management) proposed a formal vote of thanks to the dignitaries.
