B.Sc. (Hons.) - Physics

School of Life & Basic Sciences

Physics is a natural science based on experiments, measurements and mathematical analysis with the purpose of finding quantitative physical laws for everything from the nanoworld of the microcosmos to the planets, solar systems and galaxies that occupy the macrocosmos. The B. Sc. (Hons.) Physics programme endeavours to instil in students a genuine interest in the understanding of fundamental laws of Physics, to foster a creative spirit for learning, to become successful scientists in a wide range of professions. They will be able to create a hypothesis and appreciate how it relates to broader theories, evaluate hypotheses, theories, methods and evidence within their proper contexts, solve complex problems by critical understanding, analysis and synthesis, demonstrate engagement with current R&D in the subject, and critically interpret data, write reports and apply the basics of rules of evidence.
