M.Phil - Sociology

The M.Phil. Programme in Social Work/Sociology is a research-based programme, which is meant to produce social work professionals in the most advanced and innovative social work research methods. This also equips them to take up a career in academics or research and pursue doctoral programmes in social work. The programme aims at providing students with an opportunity to examine emerging specialties in the field of social work by employing scientific research methods. Intensive training as part of the M Phil. programme generates interest in evidence-based practice in social work. The programme also aims to develop an understanding of the different types of societies, social groups, and communities by acquiring knowledge of social theories, concepts and methods of research. The students are encouraged to discuss application of theories to a variety of situations and undertake research activity.
