Report on IPR Worshop
Dr. Ruby Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, School of Basic Sciences and Dr. Shubhita Mathur, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, School of Engineering and Technology (SADTM) of Jaipur National University, actively participated in the workshop conducted by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Rajasthan. Patent Information Centre (PIC) at DST and Government of Rajasthan in collaboration with Patent Facilitation Centre TIFAC, DST Government of India had organized this IPR workshop for women researchers at BISR, Jaipur on 29th -30th November, 2019.
The Key note address of the Workshop was delivered by Mrs. Sangeeta Nagar, Scientist E, TIFAC, New Delhi. The workshop also witnessed an excellent presentation on “Patents” by honourable Ms. Mugdha Sinha, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Rajasthan. Dr. Yogmaya Verma, Deputy Manager, IP Management and Technology Licensing, BCIL, Delhi, delivered a talk on “Commercialization of Research Outputs in Sciences”.
JNU faculty members not only learned the importance of patents but also had hands-on how to draft a patent. The knowledge and skills learned by the members will further be beneficial to the other teachers and students of JNU, Jaipur who are enrolled in research work or are planning for a “Start-up”. Besides Patent and laws related to Patent, Dr. Ruby Singh and Dr. Shubhita Mathur also learnt about the Trade Mark, Intellectual Property Rights, University IP policy, copyright and related laws. The IPR Cell of JNU, Jaipur was established in 2017 and a similar seminar was also conducted in the University on 17th September 2018. In connection to this, we may organize many seminars with PTC which will enhance the knowledge and importance of Patents, copyright, Trademark and IPR related laws. The University has also applied to DST, Rajasthan for the funds in order to conduct another IPR workshop in its campus.
Overall, the workshop by DST highlighted the importance of patenting the innovative ideas in research as well as in industry setup and also gave Hands on Prior-Art search.View All Events
