Chemical Engineering is not only about chemical reactors and distillation columns but it is beyond that. The food we consume, the cosmetics we wear, the detergents we wash our clothes with, -are all a result of engineering of materials and their chemical reactions. Therefore, Chemical Engineering is a wide-ranging branch of engineering that explores vast applications into novel technologies.

Several areas including fuel combustion, energy transfer and reaction systems have been associated with Chemical engineering and since it is inevitable to these areas, it has also applications in microelectronics, textiles, medicine & healthcare, biotechnology, pulp & paper products, synthesis of advanced materials, and many other day to day consumer goods. Since the basic sciences like chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology and materials sciences are the main pillars of Chemical Engineering, it leads to the relevance of the field in the above mentioned areas.

Department of Chemical Engineering at Jaipur National University is endowed with young, vibrant and dynamic faculty well qualified to impart high quality teaching and research in Chemical Engineering. The research interests of the faculty vary broadly; pollution control, biodiesel, polymer, gas absorption, heat exchanger etc. that may demand a collaborative approach with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Materials Science, Bio-technology, Computing and Electronics.

 

Learning Perspectives of Chemical Engineering:

The B.Tech program in Chemical Engineering consists of two semester course  in basic and life sciences, engineering, humanities, and computer application, followed by six semester professional program that includes Chemical Engineering courses and interdisciplinary electives. In addition, our students carry out research projects for credit or informally to gain practical knowledge.

10 + 2 Science Stream with Min. 45% (Physics and Mathematics)

  • Scope of Chemical Engineering is too vast. It ranges from core Oil and Gas, Mineral processing, Cement, Pharma, Polymers to Pollution Control.
  • Chemical engineers are required in all Public sector  viz., IOCL, BPCL, ONGC, National Fertilizer Limited, SAIL, etc. as well as in  Private sectors viz., Reliance Industries, Aditya Birla Industries, L&T, etc.
  • Their job profile ranges from Production engineer, Design Engineer etc.
  • Thus chemical engineers are required in the various fields of engineering like food, polymer, petroleum, fertilizer, cement, paint, pharmaceutical industries
