BACHELOR IN FASHION DESIGN
BFD program of the University is a degree course having great probability for employment opportunities in various field in fashion Industry, the fast expanding luxury brands and designer labels, it also helps you to develop style and accessories, an outfit keeping up with the todayâ€™s competitive environment in the market and fresh fashion collections.
The programme has objective to build upcoming young professional fashion designers through wide learning of design and skills. Students are getting technical guideline of industry for endless growth in retail sector. During the program students will ideate and create products that would contribute to the transformation in feasible future of Fashion Industry. Development of accessories is the important segment in this program. The degree in fashion design provides the technical and professional knowledge and capabilities to work as a fashion designer and fashion product developer for the Indian and global fashion industry.
Course will equip the students with creative skills through hand-sketching of the design, to draping, pattern creation, sewing and execution of the finished product. The curriculum is designed to develop skills and in response to changed needs of the fashion industry. Each student is required to prepare a portfolio and selected collection of work to be showcased to people from industry and academia at a graduate runway.
In BFD (Bachelor in Fashion Design) The course curriculum transmits understanding environment of fashion along with graphic and computer skills. Fundamentals of design are attended through seminars, workshops, group discussions, study tours, exhibitions, summer workshops, visits to galleries & museums and industry visits. During four years of program institute is covering areas as follows.
Students in foundation year are refined to Art and Design concepts through research observation, visualization, exploration of materials & techniques, Design methods and principles, environmental studies are applied in every project to explore in world of fashion. Communication skills form the basis of Design Learning, Computer Applications are also included.
Students get advance knowledge of Fashion Design education. Exploration of various Design skills like Fashion illustration, pattern drafting, draping, garment construction and computer aided designs along with knowledge about textile materials, fabrics and others to encourage and help them to build strong design portfolio. Industry exposure is also given through various classroom projects and additional study program. Subject of 2 year students are History of Western Costume, Draping, Fashion Illustration, Pattern Making, Garment Construction, Basics of Embroideries and manipulation Digital Design-II, Business of fashion.
Knowledge on marketing, Industry orientation is incorporated in the learning through, brand building and promotion. The course facilitates a significant understanding of new Fashion trends. Students get knowledge of various design projects - Indian wear, western wear, men's wear etc. Indian art and Costume appreciation, Research Methods, Professional Practices Surface Ornamentation-I, Fashion Illustration-III, Pattern Making & garment construction, Draping, Merchandising & Production Methods Fashion Forecasting, Design Process.
Students in final year are encouraged to build individual style of expression in fashion design while developing concepts and design collection culminating into a strong Design Portfolio. They are also encouraged to explore to important aspects of fashion business like Portfolio Development, Entrepreneurship, Brand Development and Professional Practice. Industry mentored project. Visual Merchandising, Business of Luxury Fashion. The main subjects for final year are- Couture Design, Fashion Advertisement, Fashion Accessories, Fashion Photography, Dissertation/ Graduation Project Final Design Collection/. Fashion Styling, Dissertation/ Graduation Project, Fashion Photography, Fashion styling.
