  • Examination system:
    Evaluation of candidates is done by theory and practical exams held at the end of completion of the course.

Objective:
The fundamentals of casting and splinting techniques are important for the safety and management of various orthopedic conditions.
The Diploma course in Orthopedic Technology comprises of theoretical, laboratory and clinical practice.
The clinical practice includes the clinical examination and evaluation of individual patients in order to prescribe and deliver the appropriate lower limb orthotic or prosthesis to the patient.
The broad objectives of the Diploma Course in Orthopedic Technology are to provide the graduate with:

  • A clear concept of the role and responsibilities of Orthopedic Technologists towards patients, colleagues and the clinical team.
  • A good level of theoretical knowledge and practical competency to safely and efficiently carry out their professional duties in assessing, prescribing, designing, fabricating and evaluate fitting of prosthetic and orthotic devices to people with neuromuscular and muscular skeletal deficiencies.
  • A knowledge of the application of locally available materials and the adaptation of technology to suit different social and environmental conditions;
  • The ability to operate and maintain the tools, machines and equipment used in prosthetics/orthotics or technical orthopedics departments;
  • An understanding of the principles of workshop management and supervision of staff.

Market value:

  • After completion of the course the candidate can be posted in orthopedic department of secondary and tertiary health care setups with starting salary of 15k to 20k rupees/month.
