The University

Jaipur National University (JNU), Jaipur came into existence in the year 2007. Two professional institutes of the seedling Group, established in 2002, with several technical & professional programmes of studies, were merged with the University to form a major part of the University. In 2008 the University was visited by an expert panel of UGC members which accorded approval to our programmes under clause 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.The School of Distance Education was accorded approval by the Joint Committee of the UGC- AICTE- DEC for offering programmes through Distance Education Mode. Besides these mandatory recognitions, the University has earned the trust and goodwill of aspiring students, parents, public and concerned agencies, based on excellence in teaching and sincere emphasis on high standards of research.

 
In such a short span, JNU has made a niche for itself in the country because of its commitment to providing quality education and a conducive learning environment. The University is becoming an obvious choice for professional and technical education, as well as for lovers of quality academic pursuits. The University has demonstrated high standards of teaching and research. Highly qualified and experienced faculty adorn its classrooms. Four times, the University has been rated among the top 20 BT Schools of India by the well-known magazine Biospectrum. Lectures by eminent scholars are arranged on a regular basis for the benefit of both students and teachers. Collaboration with top national and international Universities and institutions is also its hallmark.




Keeping in view the philanthropic orientation of the Sponsoring Body and the policies of the State, the University is fulfilling its social responsibility by awarding scholarships, freeships, arranging remedial/add-on courses and other necessary facilities for the needy students. Location of the University

Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan (India). It is a well-known tourist destination for both Indians and foreigners. Its palaces, forts, gardens, museums, arts and crafts, including gems and jewellery industry, are famous throughout the world. Jaipur's medieval town-planning in the walled-areas, pink colour of the market-places and squares, and heritage monuments are soothing tothe public gaze.

Jaipur is fast emerging as a hub of higher professional education in India on the pattern of Pune, Bangaluru and Hyderabad. .

Quality education, merit, transparency and fulfillment of social responsibilities are the kernel of Jaipur National University. The University is situated close to the centre of the city and the airport. One can reach the University from the main Railway Station and Central Bus Stand within half an hour.

Proximity of Jaipur to Delhi is an added advantage. A distance of 250 kms between the two cities can be covered by the excellent National Super-Express Highway No. 8, in four hours.

Besides extensive road connectivity, Jaipur is approachable by Rail and Air from all major cities of India, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangaloru and Hyderabad.

NASI

JNU played host to the 80th Annual session and Symposium of the National Academy of Sciences, India on 'Climate Change' from December 2-4, 2010 Scientists, whose brilliant achievements have dazzled the world, congregated under the aegis of JNU for deliberations and discussions that bore testimony to the need for a serious consideration of global climate patterns. The 3 day meet was graced by eminent scientists, such as Professors M.S. Swaminathan, MGK Menon, S Radhakrishnan, Asis Datta, V.S. Arunachalam, Manju Sharma, Pramjit Khurana, Jitendra Khurana, Kasturi Datta, V.M. Katoch, J N Pande, B B Bhattacharya and many others whose talks and lectures illumined the young minds with fresh ideas.

NCSC 2011

The year 2011 proved to be a milestone year in the history of JNU. The University along with Department of Science & Technology, State of Rajasthan and Govt. of India, jointly hosted the 19th National Childen's Science Congress on the theme 'Land Resources: Use for Prosperity, Save for posterity. The five day event attracted child scientists from across the nation and from ASEAN countries. Over 200 projects in the form of models, posters and presentations were submitted by child scientists, face to face interactions, video conferencing sessions and seminars provided students with an unparalleled opportunity to meet and interact with acclaimed scientists and learn from them. Former president, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, graced the plenary session and addressed, inspired and enthralled the young scientists with his powerful views and ideas

NKN Project

JNU is one of the premier institutions selected by MHRD for connectivity under National Knowledge Network(NKN). The NKN is a state-of-the-art multi-gigabit pan-India network for providing a unified high speed network backbone for all knowledge related institutions in the country. The NKN is a platform for delivering effective distance education where teachers and students can interact in real time. network enables co-sharing of information such as classroom lectures, presentations and handouts among different institutions.
